The Little Crawling Man
Years ago I was browsing an antique store and in the back of the store there was a table of miscellaneous items. One item caught my eye; I call it “The Little Crawling Man”. He was obviously old, made of plaster and somewhat fragile. I have no idea what he might have adorned at one time but he was unique. There was no information to indicate his past life or to let me know how much he cost. I called the proprietor of the shop over and asked him the price of the “Little Crawling Man”. He paused a moment, then looked at me in a curious manner and said “Lady, if you want THAT you can have it!” So, to my good fortune, the “Little Crawling Man” came home with me at no cost! I have had much interest in him over the years and I’m not sure if he is one my favorite pieces because he is unusual or because he was free…. Probably a little of both!
Develop an “eye for the unusual” and don’t be afraid to display those things in your home.
