This is the way that I approached the project:
I left basic neutral elements in place and updated the surroundings in a cost efficient manner. The tile floor and counter tops were left as they were. The sink, faucet, and cabinetry were also left in place.
My plan was to update the walls with beadboard that was installed about two-thirds up the wall and not the usual chair rail height. In addition, the Handsome Handyman painted the outdated pickled cabinets a crisp white. He also constructed a cornice board for the window treatment which I covered with a purchased drapery panel….this gave the window a custom look without the expense.
The biggest impact in the entire room was the cheapest and easiest project of all! Take a look at the fabulous ceiling! My hunk of a handyman taped off the existing ceiling and painted alternating triangles the neutral wall color…. What an impact! I chose to use the existing ceiling fixture but revamped it by painting it black…that jolt of color was fantastic. I continued to use black accents around the laundry room in artwork, decorative plates and other accents. The clear glass canister filled with clothespins gives an elegant look to ordinary objects.

That’s about it! I hope you are inspired to look at your laundry room in a different light and are encouraged to use your imagination, throw in a little whimsy, and create a laundry room that makes you smile.
